Health Importer App Reviews

Waste of money!

Crashes before importing data! I want my money back!

Still doesnt work in latest iOS

There is no "health importer" option to share with (per instructions), so the export cannot be opened. Additionally the file that apple exports is xml but this program seems to expect csv.

Now works for ios9

Contacted the developer because I was still having problems uploading my old data. They were really nice and fixed the problem with this new version. Very happy now.

Don’t expect much

If you are expecting to export your health data from one phone to another and keep your data intact, this is not the app you are looking for. I exported my data using QS Access, which went fine. However, when I tried to import the data the Health Importer app crashed almost every time. I contacted support but they did not reply. The only way I was able to get some of my data over was to export / import a few health parameters over at a time. Even then, I could only get a daily summary to import. The means that for parameters you may take multiple times per day, such as blood pressure, you are only going to get a single reading imported. It also had issues with some of the data points such as Body Fat Percentage. In that case it imported the data with a decimal which made it useless (18% showed up as .18%). My heart rate seems to have only imported a single max value for each day rather than the range. Sleep data wouldn’t import at all. In the end, I ended up just having to manually enter a lot of the data. This app just isn’t worth the pain and aggravation it caused me. I was especially disappointed that I was not able to get any response from the company.

Works as expected

I was a little weary about buying this app due to the bad reviews, but the app worked as expected. I wanted to import 6 years of Weightbot data (about 2000 rows) into the Health app, and it worked great.

Crashes on import

I paid $3. I followed the instructions. I exported only the minimum data that I wanted to import. And this app crashes unceremoniously. I cant say if they fix it I will increase the star rating because when they fix it I will no longer need it. I needed it now, which means I will have to do something else.

DO NOT BUY - DOES NOT WORK

Dont waste money on this. Or time. It does not work with iOS 9, even the version update from yesterday. Fails to import even the simplest CSV test file with 2 columns and 3 rows. I emailed the developers asking for help. Then called them and left a voice mail. No reply at all!

It works.

It’s a shame this has to exist but it does what it says. On my first attempt it said “0 data points imported”, but then I realized I was selecting the wrong date format (YYYYDDMM vs DDMMYYYY). It looks like Steps and Weight imported correctly, but the decimal place on Body Fat Percentage was two tenths off. Also, the times didn’t come through on the data points so everything says 12am, but that’s not a big deal. Probably a function of the Quantified Self app, or not being able to export by the hour. I was also able to do this with Dropbox. I exported each CSV category individually to maintain the time, opened it in the Dropbox app, hit the Share button, tapped Open In… then chose Copy to Health Importer and went through the same process. Body Fat Percentage still didn’t come through properly, had to be manually edited.

Works for me

I wanted to import historical glucose data. 1) created one point and used QS-Access to get the CSV by sharing, via airdrop, to my mac. 2) Added historical data to the CSV in same format 3) Airdropped the result back to my phone. I was given several choices (not Health Importer). I opened it in numbers, then shared from Numbers to Health Importer, choosing CSV as format. 4) Health Importer opened. I followed instructions to associate the three rows (start date, end data, and glucose). Start date was in the default day format, so don’t change it. 5) Success Example Data: “Start”,”Finish”,"Blood Glucose (mg/dL)" "12/16/15 22:05”, "12/16/15 22:05”, “105” Note, when I subsequently exported using QS-Access there was an entry per hour per day, with most of the entries equal to “0”, except the hour where my measurement was taken. So, spurious data and loss of minutes. If you need to round-trip I recommend exporting from the Health App, which is XML, and then massaging that into the right cvs format.

Did not work for me... But

I followed the limited instructions, but the app never imported any records, It just froze on 0 records imported. So I never got it to work, but in following the instructions I noticed I had a free app that showed up in the list to import data. That app worked exactly as I wanted with no issues. Ended up paying $3 to learn how to use an existing free app.

Does not work

App crashes during import so like many others i dont think this works. Pretty expensive then if useless :-(.

Works with iOS 9.2

Contrary to what other reviewers have said, this worked just fine on iOS 9.2. I imported a .csv file created using QS access (free app). Cheers!

Works great!

I reviewed this app with only one star in the past, but I discovered it was not working because of me. I never checked the date format; the date in the spreadsheet was different than the format I had in the app, thats why it crashed every single time. Once I noticed that and changed it, it worked well. I still believe Apple has to let us backup our data to iCloud, but meanwhile this app proved to be useful. Remember to check the date format before importing!! If its incorrect it will crash.

Works great. Needs more data types

I already use this for weight and calories, and it works well. I need to add my reproductive data, especially menstruation and sexual activity. Thanks!

Expensive and useless

Do not waste your money.

Crashes for larger data sets, but can handle it all in small parts

I first rated this app 1 star because it crashed the moment it tried to import my data. However, this was because my CSV had 12000 rows of data in it (two years worth). After a bit of messing around with the CSV file, I discovered Health Importer did work, it just couldnt take all my data at once. I edited the CSV file in excel and created two files that each contained half of my data. Each file contained ~6000 rows of data, and the app imported both like a champ. So though the app has trouble with larger data sets, Im satisfied overall since I was able to discover a workaround. P.S. The app doesnt support importing sleep analysis, which is a bummer, but not a deal breaker, as my data is stored in the sleep tracking app I use. Maybe a future update could introduce support for this?

Worked for me!

Takes some time figuring it out. Its not automatic and you have to read and set your fields. You also need the app QS Access to export the data!

Awesome app

I had dropped my phone several weeks and smashed it. I did not have a backup as I really didnt care and just use iCloud to keep my contacts and such. Why health is not synced to cloud is stupid. Anyway I had been tracking my blood pressure daily for about a year and it was all gone. I was so depressed. But I happened to have a csv file I mailed to my doctor weeks earlier. This imported it flawlessly!!!

It was worth $3.00

I use the Apple health app for steps. I set it up, per the instructions, and just as advertised-it worked. Apple should include this functionality as part of the software. The price is worth the function.

Worked like a charm!

Im using this to load intraday heart rate data into my iOS Health app from a CSV file I create using the FitBit API.
